2. Are the programs offered at SOFT, recognized worldwide? What is the association with NIFT? Ans : The courses of SOFT are recognized and well accepted by the foreign universities and the students are also well accepted by the Indian Garment Industry.
SOFT has signed Memorandum of Understanding with NIFT for all technical assistance i.e. development of syllabus, training of the faculties, providing experts & juries to SOFT and the use of NIFT’s name and logo on all official documents.
3. What is Fashion Design?
Ans: Apparel is an integral part of our lives, constitutes major part of fashion along with accessories and life style products.
It is essential for every fashion executive working at every level of the fashion industry to understand how fashion business developed. The historical reference will help them to make decisions for today and the future. It is indeed very interesting to see how ideas from the past are often reinterpreted for today’s fashion.

4. What is Textile Design?
Ans: The opportunity in fashion also expands its ingenuity and innovations in the areas of Textile Design with extremely exquisite Fabrics, wonderful Patterns and brilliant Print Designs.
This course enables the learner to understand the depth of Yarn, Fiber, Fabric knowledge which extends the curriculum with the actual making of the Textile with the Technical and Technological inputs using various Computer Software’s.
The contents of the course also helps the learners to comprehend the entire Process of how the Fabrics are woven, Knitted, Printed, Finished including the fundamentals like different types of Weaves, Dyes, Finishes, Printing methods, Machinery, Looms, Traditional Textiles and Embroideries, Design Development, Product Development, Yarn Craft, Term Project etc.

9. What is the age limit to apply for the course? Ans: There is no age limit for the admission to courses. The students who are capable of attending the full time course and complete the practical & assignment work in time are eligible for the courses.
10. What is the selection procedure?
Ans: (A) SNDT - Selection Procedure:
Candidates will have to appear for Common Entrance Test conducted by S.N.D.T. Women’s University,Mumbai for which School of Fashion Technology will provide necessary help and guidance to all candidates those who have applied.
Selected candidates will have to go through interviews organized by S.N.D.T. Women’s University,Mumbai at prescribed centers.
Final admission will be processed on the basis of CET – 60%, Qualifying Exam - 20%, Portfolio and Interview - 20%
(B) NIFT - Selection Procedure:
All candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the entrance tests. Candidates for the design programs will undergo a Creative Ability Test ,and General Ability Test. For APMM the students have to go for managerial ability test in place of Creative ability test . 14. What is the procedure for counseling? Ans:The counseling for the courses is done in person and telephonically for the outstation candidates. For telephonic counseling, the outstation applicants are suggested to take prior appointment.
15. What is the fee structure for each course and the installments given?

16. What is the extra expenditure and is it included in the fee structure? Ans: The extra expenditure is on various non-consumable materials and consumables, industrial visits, fashion shows, design projects, presentations, etc. and it is not included in the fee structure.
17. Is the hostel available? Ans: Hostel is available. But the seats to the college hostel are limited. The students can also avail the facility of private hostels of A & B Grade. Once the admission to the course is finalized at SOFT, you may apply for hostel through our administration department.
18. What are the facilities provided on campus? Ans: The facility of state-of-the-art computer lab with unlimited internet facility, well-equipped machine lab, reading at library, scanning, canteen, primary medical services are provided on campus.

20. Are there any scholarships provided by the college? Ans: The scholarships are given to the needy students. But the eligibility is decided by the management as per the norms laid down.
21. Are there any scholarship / concessions for the reserved category students? Ans: The concessions to the reserved category students are available to the students of degree programs and only for students from Maharashtra State as per the norms laid down by Govt. of Maharashtra.
22. How are the students evaluated? Ans: The students are evaluated on the basis of the assignments, written examinations, practicals, journals, presentations & projects, etc. and also on the basis of attendance for each subject.
23. What are the functions of Anti-Ragging Committee, Grievance Committee and Students’ Council? Ans:SOFT strictly follows the rules & regulations of laid down by Supreme Court of India towards ragging. Grievance Committee follows the rules & regulations laid down by the SNDT University for any type of complaints. Students’ Council is a body of students comprising the representatives of all years and all courses and takes care of the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the college.
